OUTDOOR READING ROOM
The Outdoor Reading Room on Parklawn Place North St Marys has had its second last Corporate Volunteer Blitz day from United Way Australia with a 40+ team from ING Direct. A second coat of paint was put onto the mural wall, a noticeboard to promote community events installed, bench seats for people to sit and read books from the Little Free Community Library, wicker style planter boxes complete with beautiful herbs and lavender, a passionate fruit vine and trellis, as well as a first coat of the outdoor movie screen.
Over the coming months United Way will hand this project over to our community to continue to grow and develop the site. Many thanks to partners involved in their own way in bringing this project to fruition - United Way Australia, Shared reading NSW, Paint Penrith REaD and Magnetic Places Penrith City Council.
The Outdoor Reading Room is evolving into a wonderful welcoming community space.

WERRINGTON - OUT AND ABOUT
Community Junction Inc Werrington, are branching out of the
office and over to Arthur Neave Memorial Hall.
During the first weeks in February we offered 2 weeks of afternoon fun to the local community with one off exciting activities. There was something for everyone from sensory play, drama and cartooning workshops, as well as fun activities for youth and getting our hands dirty with slime!
We were able to network and promote the programs that we offer to the local community and had the advantage of being the only neighbourhood centre with a stall. Thank you to Thorndale for a fun and informative day!

'BACKYARD BLISS'
Colyton Neighbourhood Centre got a much needed makeover last Thursday. United Way Australia provided the corporate volunteers who enjoyed a day out of the office with the aim of brightening up the neighbourhood centre and make it livelier for people who access it on a daily basis.

Around 15 volunteers enjoys time outdoors planting 14 grevilleas around the front parameter and installed 2 bench seats outside the front of the building while others painted the inside. A one day makeover has made the world of difference and will put a smile on the face of everyone who sees it.
